For God so loved the world that He gave His only begoten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have an everlasting life…John 3:16
Lately in my fight of faith, I have really struggled with forgiving people that have hurt me, especially those closest to me. I would go for days without talking to them and I would want nothing, absolutely nothing to do with them. It was really hard for me, until I discovered I was only hurting myself.
Let me tell you what I learned; unforgiveness only hurts the person who is holding the grudge and yes I know, they hurt you and you feel like you have a right to be mad but the truth is: your only hurting yourself.
I once watched a testimony where a young woman carried so much grudge from all the hurt and pain people caused her. Physically, she seemed alright, but spiritual, her spirit was full of spears that pierced her, each of which was written unforgiveness. It was actually a horrific picture, blood ozzed from the wounds and as long as she did not forgive those who hurt her, the spears stayed in her and the wounds only grew worse. Ooh!!! I cannot imagine what pain she must have felt.
Just like that young woman, this is what actually happens to us when we do not forgive and forget (the hurt) those who hurt us. By forgiving and forgetting, I mean you actually treat those people who hurt you, with love instead of giving them a hard time. Unforgiveness is one of the main door ways through which the enemy uses to get to us. Resist the devil (by forgiving and forgetting) and he will flee from you (James 4:7).
Today I want to share with y’all my Father’s heart. By “my Father”, I am talking about my Heavenly Father, My God. His heart is full of love, for you and I, His most prized possession. Abba,Father is involved in each and every area of our lives, from the big areas that do matter to us, to the small areas that we do not really care for.
He has the very hairs on our heads numbered, this is love!!! He loves and cares for us so much, that even the things that don’t have much value to us, such as the number of hairs on our heads, it means so much to Him and He has them numbered.
If I was to summarise my Father’s heart in one word, it would be LOVE, PERFECT LOVE.
So my prayer today was: Lord, give me Your heart for people. Help me see them the way you do, love them the way you love; especially when they hurt me and sometimes cause me so much anguish. Remove the anger, pain and indifference and give me Your heart for them.
Lord, help me to see every person in a different light, a light that shows behind every angry or rude word, injustice or bad attitude. I want to see a person that the Lord loves with all His heart, a person He die for, a person that the Lord longs to heal and redeem their hearts.
Help me love, Lord, Your kind of love for it is: Patient, Kind, not jealous, boastful, proud or rude. It doesn’t demand its own way, it isn’t irritable, keeps no record of wrong, rejoices when truth wins, never loses faith, is hopeful and endures through every circumstance. Without Your love we would mean nothing and gain nothing.(1 Corinthians 13: 1-7)
