She did not [seriously] consider her future. Therefore she has come down
[from throne to slavery] in an astonishing manner; She has no comforter. (Lam 1:9)

In order to live our dream we must first have a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. We do this by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Lord of our lives. Thereafter we ask the Lord to fill us with the Holy Spirit. This is very important because without the Holy Spirit we cannot live in the power, might and authority Jesus Christ died to give us. We must then invest in our relationship with God by spending time with God by reading His word, listen to annointed sermons (I highly recommend Joseph Prince Ministries) and finally joining a bible believing church and being part of a small group in church where you get to worship and serve the Lord as a small community.

As you do this, You will begin to hear the voice of the Lord because you are now His sheep and part of His flock. You begin to experience the love and immeasurable grace of God in your life and it will change your reality forever. Keep listening to sermons that unveil Christ in the word, this will build up your faith and as you continue to watch and experience the greatness of love through this relationship, The Lord will reveal His purpose for your life which is custom made to the entirety of your life on earth which is so glorious.

This is what I call your dream or you heart beat. Everything else will pale in comparison to your God given dream. However, every now and then the devil will send distractions which are perfectly meant to detour you from achieving your dreams. It is then that you will realise that only a passionate devotion to God and conviction about the identity and purpose He has given you will be stronger than the enemy’s distraction.

When distraction come, a resolved mindset in the word of God is the best weapon of warfare. One must steward every moment doing their best with what they have for Jesus Christ everday in order to avoid distractions. Stay focused on Christ and His Word. Nehemiah put it eloquently while he waa building the walls of the city of Jerusalem that laid in ruins.

“I am doing a great work and cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave to come down to [meet with] you?” (Neh 6:3)

Not so long ago I had the image above in my heart and slowly the meaning of it began to unfold as I meditated on it. It an image of a Man, with a bow and arrow in her arms ready to aim and shoot at her target. The bow and arrow each typify a hidden meanings of which I unveil below. I hope this message encourages and blesses you. Remember to share it with a friend, and like, comment and follow this blog for more inspiring content.

1. The weapons and the battle

Both the bow and arrow are weapons used in battle. The battle is for possessing the beat of your heart or all the promises which God has shown you or spoken to your heart. It is a battle because for one to possess and taken ownership of something, another person has to be dispossessed of it. Consider the children of Israel who after wondering in the desert for forty years, they had to disposes the “giants” living in Canaan so that they could possess their promise land. Possessing your promises means going to battle armed with weapons. This requires strength, courage and unwavering trust in the Lord which is manifested through obedience.

For though we walk in the flesh [as mortal men], we are not carrying on our [spiritual] warfare according to the flesh and using the weapons of man. The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ, being ready to punish every act of disobedience, when your own obedience [as a church] is complete. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6(AMP)

Possessing your God given promises, requires strength, courage and unwavering trust in the Lord which is manifested through obedience.

2. The Target

The target is all the promises He has revealed you in other words Your Heart beat.

3. The Archer

GOD is the Archer; Both the bow and arrow are in His hands, He controls it all. We have to trust Him because He is good and He loves us with an everlasting love. God has an amazing plan for our lives (read Jer 29:11 below), and He graciously guides us to achieve it, through the Holy Spirit. Whether we end up achieving His amazing plan for our lives is dependant on whether we believe in Him and obey Him. So it up to us to submit to His will.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 (AMP)

Submissions is manifested through perfected obedience. The result of perfected obedience is that it strengthens other people’s faith in God and refreshes the knowledge that God loves them when they encounter the submitted person. The submitted person is abiding in the true living vines Jesus Christ and because of this he is bearing fruit. Fruits are not consumed by the tree that bears it instead other people get to enjoy its fruits. They are able to test and see that the Lord is good, through the submitted person. They are able to enjoy the wine.

...Come, all my friends— feast upon my bride, all you revelers of my palace. Feast on her, my lovers! Drink and drink, and drink again, until you can take no more. Drink the wine of her love. Take all you desire, you priests. My life within her will become your feast. Song of Songs 5:1 (TPT)

4. The Bow

The bow is the people and circumstances that God will use to get you to your target. Consider Joseph’s story. God used his brothers, the Ismaelite traders, Potiphar and his wife and the King cup bearer to get him to the palace and put him the second in command after Pharaoh. Meanwhile God used the John the Baptist, Judas Iscariot, the pharisees, the scribes, pontious pilate, roman soldiers and many more circumstances and people to get Jesus Christ at the cross and now His sitted at the right hand of God. Take heart and always remember this, especially when you can’t understand it at all.

And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. Romans 8:28 (AMP)

5. The Arrow

We are the arrow in hands of God the Archer. For the arrow to reach the target, It must-

a) Sharp

The arrow must be sharp to pierce across the atmosphere, this along with the momentum build from the pull back with enable the arrow to hit its target. This means that one has discover the gifts the Lord has given us and be about our Father’s business by perfecting it. Remember what Proverbs 18:16 (AMP)… A man’s gift [given in love or courtesy] makes room for him and brings him before great men. Consider, David in the bible as an example, despite the fact that he was a shepherd boy, he was also a musician. He wrote, sang and played worship music. He ministered to King Saul when the king was in distress. Joseph and Daniel both served before their kings because they perfected and dominated their gifts of interpreting dreams.

Before one develops in their gifts, they must explore in order to discover them. The bible gives a good example of Jesus Christ as a twelve year old boy accidentally left in the temple after the passover festivities. He had already discovered His gift in teaching the Word of God and was passionate about pursuing it. However His mother didn’t approve of it so He had to submit under her authority. Read the following blog posts in order to understand more on submission: Submissions to authority and Submission to abusive authority

Three days later they found Him in the [court of the] temple, sitting among the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. All who heard Him were amazed by His intelligence and His understanding and His answers. Luke 2: 46-47(AMP)

b) Work together with the Holy Spirit.

Surrender in obedience to His guidance. The Unnamed Helper exhorts us to do this in Proverbs

I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life.I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!” Psalm 32:8-9 (TPT)

c) Have a godly character

Pulling back the arrow so that it can to gain momentum to move swiftly towards the target is symbolic of building one character. This is very important to God because who we are is much more important than what we do. Building ones character my look like a set back because it involves so many test in order to purged and purify us like gold in the fire but take heart because your only getting better and being equipped to handle and manage your promises.

d) Be Focused

The arrow must be fixed and focus towards the target. This is in order to get hit it. You can only become what you behold, so behold Christ our hope and cherish all His promises to us, for they are yes and Amen! Only a passionate devotion to God and a conviction about the identity and purpose He has given me will stronger than the enemy’s distraction. To achieve a God given dream, one must already have a vision of the goal already achieved in their heart so create a vision board and keep it in front of your eyes and consider it by speaking it into existence before it ever manifests.

God who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. Romans 4:17 (AMP)

e) Let go to run my race

When the Archer at the perfect time releases the arrow, it moves so fast towards the target as a result of the momentum built because of the pull back (godly character) and the arrow being lazer sharp (perfected God given gifts/ abilities) swiftly pierces through the atmosphere. The arrow moves so fast that everything around it is blurred. This means that to achieve our God given dreams we must let go of every wound that pierces us. We do this by forgiving all those who hurt us, pray for them and bless them. We also must let go off the sin we easily fall into, or in other words get rid of The Robe. Resist the devil through the word of God, the blood of the Lamb and our testimony and the devil will flee.

...we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us. Hebrews 12:1(TPT)
