So Israel set out with all that he had, and came to Beersheba [where both his father and grandfather had worshiped God], and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night … Genesis 46:1(AMP)

Today’s devotion simply magnifies the grace of God, His heart towards His children. Israel left for Egypt to see his long lost son, on his journey he came to Beersheba which means an oath. This place was a memorial unto God because Abraham and Isaac both worshipped God there. Israel followed the example set by his father and grandfather and worshipped God at Beersheba.

We know this because worship involves blood, in the old covenant the blood of bulls, rams and lamb was used. The first person to offer atonement for sin was God at the garden of Eden when Adam and his wife when they sinned.

The Lord God made tunics of [animal] skins for Adam and his wife and clothed them. Genesis 3:21 (AMP)

Later on, we see Cain and Abel with their sacrifices.God rejected Cain’s sacrifice because it was bloodless. Meanwhile He accepted Abel’s, just like He also accepted Jacobs offerings and spoke him in a vision of the night.

Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground. But Abel brought [an offering of] the [finest] firstborn of his flock and the fat portions. And the Lord had respect (regard) for Abel and for his offering; but for Cain and his offering He had no respect, see Genesis 4:3-4 (AMP).

The enemy does not want us to grow in knowledge in God and how to worship Him which will ultimately lead us away from Heavenly Father. This will steal our relationship with Him and hinder us from achieving our destiny or fulfilling our God given purpose. The story of the Israelites leaving bondage in Egypt reveals this plan of the enemy, God unveils this truth in His word and we should take it seriously and be vigilant. Moses asked Pharaoh to let them go and in reply Pharaoh said-

“Go, serve the Lord; only your flocks and your herds must be left behind. Even your children may go with you.” But Moses said, “You must also let us have sacrifices and burnt offerings, so that we may sacrifice them to the Lord our God. Therefore, our livestock must also go with us; not one hoof shall be left behind, for we must take some of them to serve the Lord our God…” Exodus 10:24:26(AMP)

We only can only have access to God only if we are holy and blameless as He is, less His holiness kills us. But Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the living God, solved this by becoming our atonement. Today were are holy and righteous in Him in God because at the cross He died in our place, He became sin so that we could become the righteousness of God in Christ.

He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious loving-kindness]. 2Corinthians 5:21( AMP)

Today, we believers of Christ Jesus finished work are living under the covenant of grace, through the blood of Christ. This is how we worship God, today through the living way, through the blood of His Son Christ Jesus. Our worship music, prayers declare His finished work the blood of the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of this world. Even when we studying the word of God, we must seek to see Christ Jesus and His finished work. We look for his blood, the “scarlet thread” like Rehab’s ribbon that rescued her and her family from destruction.

Meditate on:
• Worshipping the Lord, involves blood.
• We worship the Lord through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ, at He shed for us at the Cross.
