...offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” And he said, “Here I am.” And He said, “I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you (your descendants) a great nation there. I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you (your people) up again; and Joseph will put his hand on your eyes [to close them at the time of your death].” Genesis 46:1-4(AMP)
Today’s devotion is a continuation of the last devotion. Israel offered sacrifices at Beersheba and he worshipped God, God spoke to Israel in visions of the night. When we worship God He inhabit our praises, His presence is welcomed in our atmosphere where He is enthroned and He begins to rule and reign in our situation. Psalm 22:3 (TPT) eloquently captures it like this-
Yet I know that you are most holy; it’s indisputable. You are God-Enthroned, surrounded with songs, living among the shouts of praise of your princely people.
Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Psalm 24:7(AMP)
Isn’t it interesting that the bible says God spoke to Israel through a vision of the night. One would He gave Israel a vision, but, El Shaddai, He also spoke to him. He revealed Himself to Israel and instructed him to go to Egypt. God went on to promise him that He would make a great nation out of Him. Israel was a just a simple father with his family, however God calls out a nation out of Him. He gave him a destiny from Jacob to Israel to Israelites. God calls out the orchard in him, that is simply a seed.
No wonder God spoke to him through a vision of the night. God granted to him the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of his hearts enlightened, to know the hope to which God had called him to, to be the founder of the great nation of Israel. Wow!! worshiping the Lord God results to all this!! You know with the God of overflow, it just doesn’t end there, God went on to prophesy the great deliverance of the nation of Israel from Egypt.
How great is our God!! Who could ever surpass the kindness of His great heart of love? Do you just want to worship Him so more, to adore His majesty? Do you just want to grow in the knowledge of your Heavenly Father to draw close to Him, to live in His presence forever? I most definitely do!! Oh, my soul, bless the might name of the Lord, whose banner over me is His love.
• Worshipping the Lord draws the presence of the Lord to us and He want a relationship with His children, growing them in knowledge of who He is and revealing His dream for their lives, to give us a hope and a future.
